Our history

From modest beginnings in 2006, we've built Need Some Sun through unwavering dedication, continuous growth, and a whole lot of passion. We’re excited to share our journey with you!

What started as a simple dog-walking company in London, ON — created to offer exceptional, alternative care for dogs and cats — soon became something bigger than we ever imagined.

As we connected with more families, we heard a common request: high-quality products for their beloved pets. With busy lives, they didn’t have time to shop — but we could help. After all, Matt and Julia had been immersed in the pet industry since the late '90s, working in pet stores, veterinary clinics, on farms, and learning directly from pet food manufacturers.

We began delivering trusted products to our clients and eventually took our growing store on the road, traveling to dog sport events across the region.

When Julia inherited her grandmother’s sewing machine, a new chapter opened. She found a deep love for sewing, creating toys, collars, and leashes that are now the heart of our product line.

Today, Need Some Sun is about more than just pet supplies — it’s about community, craftsmanship, and making high-quality pet care accessible for everyone. Every product we offer is carefully selected and crafted to meet our high standards — while staying realistic and within reach.
